Lunacy

Lunacy, noun, “insanity or intermittent insanity once believed to be related to the phases of the moon” as defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary. The reactions and feelings that one has and is experiencing when the moon cycles from new to waxing to its full illumination,… is that “lunacy” really insanity, or is it just the heightened awareness and expression of our emotions? For women in particular, who cycle with the moon, I believe we are more sensitive to its reflection and the energy that emits from her. Thus maybe why women were seen as “insane” when we had heightened emotions and awareness.  In reality, we are truly so divinely connected to Mother Moon, that it feels unnatural to go against her rhythms.

We all should be worshippers of the moon and her cycles. Manifesting, releasing, and paying gratitude with the moon cycles, and using the moon as a cosmic timer allows us to find flow and ease. It allows vibrational alignment to a consciously created life and human experience. Connecting with the moon and her cycles helps to create your ideal life.

But what is the key and secret of the moon's magic as it affects us?

Emotions.

The moon rules and can drive the intensity of emotions. Each moon phase, all eight of them, has affected aspects of our human emotions. However, as one may expect or have experienced when the moon is full emotions have an intensity to them because the full illumination allows for these emotions to float to the surface. We know the moon rules the tides of the ocean, and it can be easy to see how it would rule our emotions as well. Emotions are often portrayed in terms of fluidity for example, “a sea of emotions” or “a well of tears”.

Not only does the phase of the moon play a part but which astrological sign the moon is moving through each day adds to the lens through which we see that day’s emotions. There are 12 Zodiac signs and the moon travels through each sign in about 2 1/2 days. A full lunar month is 29 1/2 days.

I will let you in on a practice of mine that I incorporate into my daily life. It is one of the first things I do in the morning before I get my day going. I look at what phase the moon is in that day as well as which astrological sign it is traveling through. This ritual helps me understand not only my emotions but also how others around me may be feeling or expressing themselves that day. It has been a particularly effective parenting tool with my kiddos and prepares me for my interactions at work and with friends and family. I am learning how to flow with each day’s moon energy. And not all days are created equal. Some days when the moon is in Leo where emotions are bright loud up front and ready to shine. On other days when the moon is traveling through Pisces, emotions may dive deep, and we may be really in our own world and wrapped up in feelings. But also music can be medicine on these Piscean days for all of the emotions. One extra layer to note, when the moon is in your Natal moon sign (which is where the moon was at the time of your birth) your emotions and intuition may be extra potent and amplified and this event will happen monthly.

Once you start tuning into the moon cycles and astrological transits you can get great insight into the flavor of the day and how you and others’ emotions may be illuminated. Manifesting, releasing, and paying gratitude with the moon cycles, and using the moon as a cosmic timer allows us to find flow and ease. It allows vibrational alignment to a consciously created life and human experience.

If worshipping the moon and her cycles and understanding how to feel and process my emotions across the lunar month makes me insane, then baby I'll live in this lunacy forever!
